After winning numerous awards in her early career as art director for BBDO, Jennifer Dehghan found film. Her work as additional art director on Oscar-winner Jim Taylor’s short, The Lost Cause, secured Dehghan a role art directing her first notable feature, the Academy Award nominated The Squid and the Whale for director Noah Baumbach.
It didn’t take long before Jennifer was working with other top filmmakers, including: Davis Guggenheim, Henry-Alex Rubin, and recently, Sofia Coppola on The Beguiled – an official selection of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, which she art directed for her production designer mentor Anne Ross. The Civil War period film stars Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Colin Farrell.
Dehghan transitioned quickly to production design, working on multiple critically acclaimed features such as: Jenny’s Wedding for director Mary Agnes Donahue; director Rob Legato’s thriller Choose, who is also an Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor (Titanic and Hugo); the romantic drama Dare starring Emmy Rossum for director Adam Salky, nominated for Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize in 2009; Michael Keaton’s The Merry Gentlemen, a 2008 Official Sundance Selection; and J.J. Lask’s On the Road with Judas, nominated for Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize in 2007.
In addition to her work on features, Dehghan also designs for television, most recently on ABC’s pilot Raised By Wolves for director Ben Taylor and writer Diablo Cody, along with pilots and first seasons of: Fox’s comedy The Mick; NBC’s Best Friends Forever for director Fred Savage; and the first season of NBC’s Animal Practice for directors Joe and Anthony Russo. She has also designed a variety of commercials for directors such as Cole Webley, Zach Math, Dave Laden and Fred Savage.
